Detailed workflow guide

Use Phil-IRI GST

Phil-IRI GST helps teachers keep local class reading records, enter GST results, see a recommended next step, and review the summary before moving into oral reading or export.

Teacher goal

How do I enter GST results and choose the next reading step safely?

Use this guide when this is the task in front of you. Stop if the selected class, learner, role, school year, file, or output does not match.

In-app path

  1. Phil-IRI Toolkit
  2. GST

Get ready

Check the starting point

These are the minimum conditions for the workflow to make sense.

Before you start

Estimated time: About 5–10 minutes

  • A local class or learner list when the task requires one
  • Saved GST results or a teacher-provided scoring sheet
  • Privacy-safe reading notes for teacher follow-up

You should see

GST shows saved results for the intended class and a summary with clear missing-data or follow-up signals.

Steps

Complete the task in order

Review choice points, save or preview behavior, and any stop condition before continuing.

    Step 1

Open GST for the right class

Choose the class, subject, phase, rule profile, date, screening test grade level, and highest possible score before entering results.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Enter local learner results

Record GST results for the learners in the class and check that names and scores match the teacher's source notes.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Read the recommendation

Use the GST recommendation to decide whether to open recommended passages, import a matching passage, or continue to oral reading.

  4. 4

    Step 4

Save and review the class summary

Save the local GST results, then review the class summary for missing learners, unusual scores, and next-step readiness.

Review

Check these before relying on the work

These checks cover saved, previewed, generated, and teacher-review states.

  • Correct class and date

The GST record should match the class and reading day the teacher intends to save.

  • Rule profile is understood

Use the rule profile shown by the app and do not treat it as a replacement for the teacher's reading process.

  • Scores are reviewed

Check entries before using the recommendation or moving into oral reading.

  • Passage path is ready

If the next step needs a passage, use an available local passage or import a teacher-provided passage first.

Blocked states and recovery

Fix the blocker before continuing

Use the direct recovery action when GuroAssist is waiting for setup, data, access, policy, or file readiness.

  • No class or learner list

Set up the class and learners before saving class GST results.

After recovery: The intended learner is selected and the learner-dependent action is available.

  • GST setup is incomplete

Complete the date, screening test grade level, highest possible score, and required choices before saving.

After recovery: The required grade data is complete, current, and available for teacher review.

  • Recommended passage is missing

Choose an available passage or import the teacher-provided passage before continuing.

After recovery: The blocker is no longer shown, and the intended next action is available for teacher review.

  • Summary was not reviewed

Do not use local GST results for follow-up until the teacher checks the saved summary.

After recovery: The blocker is no longer shown, and the intended next action is available for teacher review.

    Troubleshoot this blocker

Safety note

Phil-IRI GST records are local reading support records. They help teachers organize reading work and do not certify or replace the teacher's required reading process.

Finish

Verify the result

Do not treat a saved screen or generated filename as proof that the work is ready.

You’re done when

GST shows saved results for the intended class and a summary with clear missing-data or follow-up signals.
