Detailed workflow guide

Import Phil-IRI passages

Passage import lets teachers bring a local DOCX passage into the reading library, preview detected details, review questions and hyphen handling, then save only when the passage is ready.

Teacher goal

How do I add a teacher-provided passage without assuming it is bundled or certified?

Use this guide when this is the task in front of you. Stop if the selected class, learner, role, school year, file, or output does not match.

Get ready

Check the starting point

These are the minimum conditions for the workflow to make sense.

Before you start

Estimated time: About 5–10 minutes

  • A teacher-provided passage file or text
  • The intended level, language, and source note
  • A local review that the passage is suitable for the intended use

You should see

Library lists the imported passage with its intended level, language, source note, and local availability.

Steps

Complete the task in order

Review choice points, save or preview behavior, and any stop condition before continuing.

    Import the passage file

Use Import passage DOCX and choose the trusted local file from the device or a teacher-controlled folder.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Review detected metadata

Check title, grade level, language, phase, question summary, and any messages about missing or unusual details.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Fix issues before saving

Resolve required warnings, review hyphen handling, and confirm the passage reads correctly before adding it to the local library.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Use the saved passage intentionally

After saving, choose the passage from the local library only for the matching class reading activity.

Review

Check these before relying on the work

These checks cover saved, previewed, generated, and teacher-review states.

  • File is trusted

Import only teacher-provided local DOCX files from a source the teacher understands.

  • Detected details are correct

Metadata, passage text, and question summary should match the teacher's source file.

  • Warnings are resolved

Do not save a passage while required import warnings remain.

  • Library choice is deliberate

Use imported passages only when they match the class reading need.

Safety note

Imported Phil-IRI passages are teacher-provided local materials. GuroAssist does not bundle, certify, or guarantee imported passages; the teacher should review them before use.

Finish

Verify the result

Do not treat a saved screen or generated filename as proof that the work is ready.

You’re done when

Library lists the imported passage with its intended level, language, source note, and local availability.
